Microbes are the key to natural farming. By carefully constructing a simple pig or chicken pen and introducing the right microbes, all the waste is digested right on the floor, thus eliminating odor, flies or the need for cleaning. Microbes also contribute to plant growth by virtually extending to get hard to reach nutrients.
There is a $10 materials fee for adults, $5 for seniors (60 and older) and students (with valid student ID). Please arrive 15 minutes early to register. Preregistration is not required.
This fall’s classes are at Laupahoehoe Community Public Charter School. For directions, see the PAH website: www.practicalagricultureforhamakua.com.
